Satomi generously offered to lead this meeting and Elizabeth offered to host our Sogetsu group at her home in Seatoun. Satomi is a qualified teacher of Japanese Tea Ceremony. Along with Yoko and Toshiko dressed in their kimono, Satomi prepared the tea ceremony for us.
Flowers for a tea ceremony and Hanayose ikebana are small and simple. In this tradition participants choose 2 or 3 simple flowers and arrange them in a small vase. Our flowers and containers were shared and we all chose sprigs and a container to arrange in spontaneously.
This was a special way to finish our Sogetsu activities for 2020. We enjoyed macha tea, rice cakes, sparkling cranberry drink and a variety of delicious savoury and sweet foods. Thank you very much Elizabeth for having us at your lovely home and to Satomi and her team for sharing your special tea ceremony skills.
