Workshops with Melbourne Sogetsu Teacher, Christopher James

Sogetsu Teachers Association Wellington hosted Melbourne based Sogetsu teacher Christopher James (Riji Teacher) for two workshops on Sunday 26th March 2023. Christopher was the recipient of the Norman and Mary Sparnon Scholarship and studied Sogetsu in Japan for 3 months in 2011. Have a look at his work on https://roadsideikebana.blogspot.com

The morning workshop was technique revision from Book 2, lesson 18, Variation 18 - combined arrangement of nageire and moribana. Members had to use a drop stick technique.

The afternoon workshop was from Book 4, lesson 9, deconstructing and re-arranging, incorporating text. Christopher added the use of text as another dimension for members to explore.
